In 1995, SAIC Motor took the lead to carry out truck-load transportation with railway within the industry. Through joint venture, is subsidiary Shanghai Automobile Sales Corporation and Shanghai Railway Bureau established China’s first company specializing in rail transport of commodity cars—Shanghai Andong Commodity Car Rail Transport Co., Ltd.
In 2008, the joint venture partners of Andong were changed to Anji Logistics, SAIC’s wholly-owned subsidiary specializing in automotive logistics, and CRSCS, an enterprise directly under China Railway that specializes in transportation.
The Anji Logistics of SAIC Motor continue to accelerate and perfect the arrangement of logistics network, and optimize and adjust transport capacity structure. At present, it has form an integrated smart logistics platform covering over 4000 highways, 7 river waterways, 6 coastal lines, 21 vessels, 26 central warehouses with over 10 million square meters of warehouse management area, and 26 main railway lines. It is the world’s largest automotive logistics supplier (including vehicle and component).
Both its annual acceptance for vehicle carriage and vehicle transport capacityhasexceeded 6 million vehicles. Its domestic market share of vehicle transport has exceeded 30%, ranking the first in domestic and international vehicle logistics industry. In 2016, SACI Motor has completed the rail transport of a total of 1.225 million vehicles.
